The New Mexico Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators welcomes professionals who are committed to advancing the field of fire and explosion investigation. Membership in the Chapter provides an opportunity to connect with investigators, fire service personnel, law enforcement officers, insurance professionals, engineers, attorneys, private investigators, and others who share a common interest in fire investigation, arson prevention, and professional development.

As an Enhanced IAAI Chapter, NMIAAI supports the mission of the International Association of Arson Investigators while providing local training, networking, and professional resources tailored to the needs of fire investigation professionals throughout New Mexico.

Membership Classifications

Active Membership

Active membership is intended for individuals engaged in the investigation of arson, fire, explosion, or related incidents, or those whose professional responsibilities directly support the fire investigation field. Active membership is granted upon payment of required dues, review by the Membership Committee, and approval by the Chapter membership.

Associate Membership

Associate membership is available for individuals who have a professional interest in fire investigation, fire prevention, insurance investigation, engineering, legal services, education, public safety, or related fields. Associate membership is granted upon approval of the Membership Committee and Chapter membership, along with payment of required dues.

Corporate Membership

Corporate membership is available for organizations, businesses, agencies, or companies that support the mission and objectives of the Chapter. Corporate membership provides an opportunity for organizations to support fire investigation training, education, and professional collaboration in New Mexico.

Honorary Life Membership

Honorary Life Membership may be granted to individuals who have provided exceptional service or support to the Chapter, the Association, or the fire investigation profession. This membership is granted upon approval of the Board of Directors and Chapter membership.

Membership Eligibility

Membership in the New Mexico Chapter is open to qualified individuals and organizations with an interest in fire investigation, arson investigation, public safety, professional education, and related fields.

Membership in the International Association of Arson Investigators is encouraged, but Chapter membership is not limited only to members of the International Association. Applicants should support the objectives of the Chapter and maintain the professional standards expected of those involved in the fire investigation profession.

Maintaining Membership in Good Standing

Members are responsible for maintaining their membership in good standing through payment of required dues and continued adherence to the professional and ethical standards of the Chapter.

The Chapter dues year runs from January 1 through December 31 of each calendar year. Members will be notified of dues owed, and dues must be paid within the required timeframe to maintain active membership status.

Professional Standards & Ethics

Members of NMIAAI are expected to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct. The Chapter promotes cooperation, competence, and responsible conduct among fire investigation professionals.

Membership may be subject to review or termination for conduct that violates the Chapter’s ethics requirements, discredits the Chapter or the profession, misrepresents qualifications or credentials, or otherwise fails to meet the professional expectations of the organization.
