WHO WE ARE

The International Association of Arson Investigators, Inc. is a professional organization dedicated to advancing the science, practice, and professionalism of fire investigation. Through training, education, certification, networking, and professional development, the IAAI supports fire investigators, law enforcement officers, fire service personnel, insurance professionals, engineers, attorneys, and others involved in determining the origin and cause of fires. IAAI chapters provide local and regional opportunities for members to receive quality training, build professional relationships, and stay current with nationally recognized standards and best practices in the fire investigation profession.

The New Mexico Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators serves as New Mexico’s fire investigation training and networking resource. The Chapter is committed to supporting both public and private sector fire investigators throughout the state by providing accessible training, professional collaboration, and opportunities for continuing education. Through quarterly meetings, member training, and an annual training conference, the New Mexico Chapter helps investigators strengthen their knowledge, improve investigative practices, and maintain the professional standards expected in the field of fire and explosion investigation.

As an Enhanced IAAI Chapter, the New Mexico Chapter maintains a direct connection to the broader IAAI organization while focusing on the specific needs of fire investigators in New Mexico. This relationship allows members to benefit from both the resources of the international association and the practical, local support of a state chapter. The Chapter promotes integrity, training, certification, and networking while creating opportunities for investigators across agencies, jurisdictions, and disciplines to work together in service of accurate, thorough, and professional fire investigations.

From structure fires and vehicle fires to complex criminal, civil, and insurance-related investigations, the work of fire investigators has a direct impact on public safety, justice, and community protection.
